School Events!

Share in some of our highlights from this school year…

February

Y1 Trip to the Millennium Galleries! Our Y1 children really enjoyed their visit and some lovely feedback from a member of the public:

“Not a question, just a comment. I was in the Winter Gardens and Millennium Gallery yesterday morning, Wed 4th Feb. There was a group of very young primary school children visiting, with clipboards & pencils. They were impeccably behaved and a delight to see! The teachers & staff kept them engaged & interested and they were a credit to their families and school. Please pass on my praise if possible 😀. Thank you!” Visitor at the gallery.

Y3/4 DT day! Y3/4 have enjoyed making bread as part of their learning.

National Story-Telling Week! As part of our celebrations, every class had a special, extended story time with hot chocolate. It was a lot of fun!

Y5/6 Parent Showcase! Y5/6 showed off their learning this half-term with a special event for parents and carers. Each child chose their best wider curriculum book to share and took part in science, art and geography challenges to test their thinking! Thank you to all who attended.

Sumdog Parent Workshops! We have held a series of parent workshops to show how this resource can be used at home to support learning. It was great to see so many parents and carers attending.

January 2026

Y2 Curling! A team took part in a experience event at Ice Sheffield. They loved trying out a new sport!

Singing! Y3/4 have been having singing lessons from an organisation called Primary Robins who have been funded by an opera company to engage children in high quality ensemble lessons – the singing sounds amazing!

Basketball! A coach from Sheffield Hatters Basketball Club has been delivering training sessions for two of our classes in school, providing great CPD for the teachers at the same time. She has also been delivering an after school club which the children have really enjoyed.

Y2 Cycle Training! Our Y2 children have been able to take part in some cycle training – learning how to use balance bikes effectively and for some children progressing onto pedal bikes. This was run by Cycle North who provide tutors and the bikes.

Work with the NSPCC! We have had have a special assembly with the NSPCC to inform children about their Speak Out, Stay Safe campaign. This will be followed up by lessons in classes to help children be clear about what they can do if they don’t feel safe.

Planting Trees! Kids Plant Trees have been in school to help us plant a new hedgerow along one of our fences to increase the habitats available in the school grounds and improve the look of the fences. Our school council, eco warriors and a selection of “always” children helped to plant 70 small saplings to hopefully grow into a hedgerow. The volunteers also did an assembly to help children understand the importance of trees to our planet.

Personal Development Sessions: The Anti-bullying company came in to work with our KS1 children and our Y3/4 children around what bullying is and what they can do to stop this. The children were brilliant and showed such respect to each other and our visitor.

The British Red Cross also came in to deliver a workshop with our Y6 children around Empathy. This was a great opportunity for the children to explore the lives of other young people and understand the difficulties and challenges that people face across the world.

Y2 and Y6 are Reading Buddies! As part of our “Go All In” efforts, Y6 have teamed up with Y2 to read with a buddy. We will do this every week for the rest of the year!

December

Christmas Performances! Well done to EYFS, KS1 and Y3/4 for their fantastic performances this half term. Thank you to everyone who came to see the children.

Christmas Disco! Our Christmas disco was a highlight of the children’s term with some fantastic DJ-ing skills from Mr Lamb!

Y3/4 DT day! As part of their Design Technology learning, the children created some great keyrings:

EYFS Crafts! The children enjoyed a lovely craft session making crafts for Christmas. Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended.

Y5/6 Trip to the Cathedral! As part of their RE learning, the children went on a special trip to Sheffield Cathedral. It was an amazing experience.

Christmas Fayre! Y5/6 used their Enterprise skills to organise, create and run a Christmas Fayre for our Y3/4 children and their parents. It was a huge success and all monies raised will go towards a trip in 2026!

November

Football! Our Y3/4 girls and boys teams competed in a Football competition against other local schools. We were really proud of their efforts.

Eco-committee!

We have a newly elected Eco-Committee! We had a lot of applications and our new Committee are already up and running with their Switch Off Fortnight campaign, weekly recycling and discussing our Climate Action Plan. We are also going to be working with KidsPlantTrees who are kindly going to come in and work with the children to do some planting around school in January.

Celebrating Anti-Bullying week! We had a special assembly, wore odd socks and completed Personal Development lessons about this important week.

The Anti-Bullying company visited school! They came in to work with our Y5/6 children around understanding discrimination and how to manage this. They were very complimentary about the efforts and attitude of our pupils.

Y5/6 Sports Hall Athletics visit to the EIS! The children really enjoyed this challenge.

October

Harvest! Rev Ben from St James and St Peters Church in Norton came in to talk to the children around harvest in an assembly. We have also collected donations for the Grace Foodbank. Thank you to everyone who supported this event.

Cross Country Challenge! A team of KS1/KS2 children have competed in the Astrea Cross Country Competition. We came 2nd overall with 2 individual winners in KS1. This is the best we have ever done!

Y5/6 learned First Aid! Thanks to our visitor from the British Red Cross.

Y6 residential visit! The children have arrived and are thoroughly enjoying their visit so far.

September

Our new school council has been elected. Representatives have attended their first meeting and are helping to complete a new display in the hall.

Electing our new school council. Children completed application forms, were short-listed and spoke in front of their class to encourage their peers to vote for them. Our election was held on Wednesday 17th September, in the library, with every child in Y2-Y6 voting for their preferred candidate. The votes are being counted and new school council representatives will be announced in Friday’s celebration assembly!

Learning to Willow Weave! Our Y5 and Y6 classes have worked together to create a tree which is now on display in the playground.
