Food Menu

Our new school menu!

We are fortunate to have our own in house catering at Lower Meadow which is run by a qualified Chef and catering team. We offer a choice of hot meals, vegetarian options, sandwiches and jacket potatoes. The school operates a “cafeteria” system where the children collect their meals at the serving hatch and eat with their friends. All cooked meals and packed lunches are eaten in the hall and supervised by Lunchtime Supervisors and Teaching Staff.

The cost of a school meal is now £2.50 per day and we would ask that this is paid for in advance using the My Child at School Parent App. Log in details are available from the school office. The school menu can be found above, which operates on a 3 weekly rota. On special occasions we have special menus which are advertised around school and communicated to parents.

Free School Meals
All children in Reception, Y1 & Y2 are entitled to free school meals as part of a Government initiative, regardless of circumstances. If parents of these children are eligible for free school meals by way of benefits (ie. income support, child tax credit or jobseeker’s allowance), they should still apply in order that funding linked to the claim can be made available to the school. Children in Y3 upwards need to apply for FSM entitlement.

Packed Lunch
If your child brings their lunch from home we encourage you to provide a healthy lunch. Please send your child’s packed lunch in a suitable container with your child’s name and class clearly labelled. Please do not send glass bottles, cans or fizzy drinks. Water is provided. Our chef can support families with providing healthy packed lunch guidance – please ask at the school office.

School Milk
Free school milk is provided for all children under five, and to children of parents/carers eligible for free school meals by way of benefits. Parents/carers of any other children wishing to have milk must pay at the beginning of each term. The cost will vary according to the number of days in the term and you will need to pay for the full term. We are unable to provide refunds for milk if you child is absent or changes their mind once it has been paid for that term.

Breakfast Club
We offer a breakfast club provision every morning from 8am. For £1 a day children are offered a warm option including beans/cheese on toast, cereal, fruit, yogurt, milk, water or juice. Once breakfast is finished the children can join in arts and crafts, games and various activities. Breakfast club must be booked 1 week in advance using the My Child at School app. Last entry to breakfast club is at 8.15am.

Mid Morning Snack / Tuck Shop
Milk is drunk mid morning in classrooms. Please provide your child with an appropriate water bottle (with their name on) and send this to school each day. We have water coolers around school so that children can refill their bottle. Children are allowed to bring fresh fruit or vegetables for snack. We also have a tuck shop at morning break time where children can purchase snacks for 20p each and drinks for 40p each (all children are limited to 1 snack and 1 drink).
