As a school we have taken the National Curriculum objectives and organised these across the different year groups and terms to ensure progression in learning in every subject. There is an overview of how we teach the curriculum in the different subject areas and there are also links to year group curriculum guides.
The curriculum is designed to help children make links between topics, build upon learning in previous year groups and allow teachers to explore English and Maths objectives throughout the different subjects. Lessons are designed to be exciting and engaging and will be taught in a variety of different ways for example through book based tasks or practical tasks.
Many areas of learning will be further enhanced through educational visits and visitors bringing their specialist knowledge to the classroom. The curriculum is further enhanced by special days throughout the year. We often celebrate World Book Day, and we also react to current events – for example celebrating National successes or supporting Environmental issues.
In Foundation Stage, we follow the Early Years Curriculum, providing plentiful opportunities both indoors and outdoors to develop all the different areas of learning, in particular the communication and language, mathematical development and Personal, Social and Emotional aspects.
If you require any more details regarding our curriculum please do not hesitate to get in touch with your child’s class teacher or the Principal.
