Welcome to Y5/6 DH!
Autumn 2 we will be learning…
We will still have improvement time from 8:45am-8.55am every morning in our classroom. Parents and Carers are very welcome to join us! Over the next few weeks, we will be focusing on our SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) skills and often complete challenges in a morning -please pop in to have a look!
Reading at home is very important… we are trying to read at least 5 times a week and record this in our reading diaries because this will make a real difference to our progress and confidence in lots of areas of the curriculum. (It’s not just books… comics, magazines and even manuals for games can help with fluency, expression and confidence so these can be recorded in reading records as well!) Check back soon to see how we are recording this in our classroom…
In school, we will be reading independently, in a group (reciprocal reading) and as a whole class. If you want any extra help / free resources to support this, please speak to Mr Hammond. Thank you for your continued support – we really do appreciate it…
PE kits need to be in school every day! Children need black shorts and a white t-shirt for indoor P.E. and can wear jogging bottoms/zip up tops when working outside. (please remember to label all clothes!)
We will do P.E. on Thursday and Friday but sometimes get the opportunity to take part in more sports throughout the week so it is really important that kit is in school every day – thanks very much for your support with this!
My Learning is given out on a Friday and due back the following Wednesday. Any difficulties, please come in for a chat. We would like children to be learning spellings, times tables and reading every as this really does help!
My Learning Club!
Sometimes getting homework finished at home can be tricky and you might want more help. Home learning club happens in Miss Marshall’s classroom every day from 12.15pm – 12.35pm. Children can pop in for a few minutes and speak to a grown up, read, complete home learning independently or even do extra, perhaps by starting independent projects. Hope to see you there!
