We are fortunate to have our own kitchen in school where hot meals are prepared. We offer a choice of hot meals and sandwiches. The school operates a “cafeteria” system where the children collect their meals at the serving hatch and eat with their friends. Water is provided for each child. All cooked meals and packed lunches are eaten in the hall and supervised by Lunchtime Supervisors and Teaching Staff.
The cost of a school meal is £2.30 per day and we would ask that this is paid for in advance at the school office or using the Parentpay app. Log in details are available from the school office. The school menu can be found below, which operates on a 3 weekly rota. On special occasions we have special menus which are advertised around school and communicated to parents.
Free School Meals
All children in Reception, Y1 & Y2 are entitled to free school meals as part of a Government initiative. If parents of these children are eligible for free school meals by way of benefits (ie. income support, child tax credit or jobseeker’s allowance), they should still apply in order that funding linked to the claim can be made available to the school. Free school meals are available for children whose parents are eligible by way of benefits (as above) and details about applying can be obtained from the school office.
If your child brings their lunch from home we encourage you to provide a healthy lunch. Please send your child’s packed lunch in a suitable container with your child’s name and class clearly labelled. Please do not send glass bottles, cans or fizzy drinks. Water is provided at the table.
Free school milk is provided for all children under five, and to children of parents/carers eligible for free school meals by way of benefits. Parents/carers of any other children wishing to have milk must pay at the beginning of each term. The cost will vary according to the number of days in the term and you will need to pay for the full term. We are unable to provide refunds for milk if you child is absent or changes their mind once it has been paid for that term.
Mid Morning Snack / Tuck Shop
Milk is drunk mid morning and all children are encouraged to drink water from school water bottles. These are named and stored in classrooms so that they are available for children throughout the day. Chilled water is available for all children and we have water coolers around school. Children are allowed to bring fresh fruit or vegetables for snack. We also have a tuck shop at morning break time where children can purchase snacks and drinks from 20p to 50p.
