Lower Meadow Primary Curriculum
At Lower Meadow Primary Academy we are passionate about our school curriculum. We understand that children learn best when they have ownership of their learning, when they can see why they are learning and when they are having fun.
Our skills based curriculum clearly states what should be taught at each stage through school –
Foundation Stage – Nursery and Reception
Key Stage 1 – Years 1 and 2
Key Stage 2 – Years 3, 4, 5 & 6
Over the school year we have six broad and exciting themes for children to explore. We strive to make this as exciting and relevant to our children as we possibly can. The curriculum is developmental, building on children’s experience and prioritising English, Mathematics and I.C.T. We aim to ensure that children develop the skills, knowledge and understanding which they will require in their future lives.
As part of our extended curriculum we work with children in each class on 10 Challenges. The 10 Challenges are suggested and voted on by children, prior to being finalised. The Challenges offer a range of activities which children may not possibly otherwise experience ie visiting a theatre or performing to an audience.
